The Alpine Rescue Switzerland Rigi branch (ARS OG Rigi) recently conducted a special clean-up day on Mount Rigi. On the steep north face of the mountain, directly below Rigi Kulm, specially trained rescuers rappelled down to collect kilograms of trash and lost items. This operation not only served to rid the mountain of human waste but was also part of the rescue station's regular summer training, where demanding rescue techniques were practiced. Operations manager Lukas Richli emphasized that this combination of training and environmental protection is a valuable addition to their work, as it protects not only people but also the alpine environment. Many hikers showed great interest in the rescuers' work and inquired about their equipment and techniques. Rigi Bahnen AG provided logistical support for the event, which is also intended to serve as an important example of raising environmental awareness in the mountains.
