At an information event, the municipal council of Vitznau explained the current status of the master plan for the development of the municipality. The focus was particularly on regulations for second homes and the long-term financial strategy for investments. The municipal council emphasised that the master plan merely implements the settlement development guidelines that have already been democratically adopted in order to prevent excessive urban sprawl. While the municipality can influence architectural design, loose federal law imposes narrow limits regarding second homes. To finance upcoming projects, attendees debated controversially about potential new borrowing or the sale of municipally owned properties. As the electorate always decides on property sales, no final resolutions have yet been passed for future projects. The municipal council remains in dialogue with the population to ensure sustainable development for the residential location on the mountain.
