Telephone number: 0800 041 041 - The Canton of Lucerne has introduced a new cantonal health hotline for non-life-threatening emergencies, which will be available free of charge 24/7 starting June 1, 2026. Its main goal is to provide residents with rapid guidance and professional support regarding health-related questions and to relieve the burden on overburdened emergency rooms and doctors' offices. Trained experts assess the caller's situation and connect them to the appropriate care provider, including general practitioners, urgent care clinics, or telemedicine services. The hotline is located in the same building as the 144 emergency medical services call center at Lucerne Cantonal Hospital to optimize synergies. For children under 16, there is a special referral to the Medgate Kids Line. This project aims to promote a more modern, integrated, and patient-centered healthcare system in the Canton of Lucerne and is currently in a pilot phase until the end of 2027.
