The municipality of Weggis is providing an update on the landslide situation in the Windlochboden and Tannenbergstrasse area. From August 29, 2026, Zingelistrasse, which also connects to Rigistrasse, will be reopened to traffic under strict conditions, while Tannenbergstrasse will remain closed. A detailed safety concept with five hazard levels and four hazard zones has been developed for this purpose. A new traffic management system on Zingelistrasse utilizes a traffic light system that switches to red when the risk is elevated to ensure safety. A comprehensive technical monitoring and alarm system with sensors and a rockfall protection fence will be installed to detect rockfalls and landslides at an early stage. Additional emergency shelters for pedestrians have been established halfway along the hazard zone. While landslide activity has subsided in the short term, the risk of rockfalls remains. Extensive protective structures and a new road alignment are planned for the Tannenberg area in the long term, with completion targeted for approximately 2028.

These are expected to be completed by approximately 2028. Information sheet on traffic regulations on Zingelistrasse
