Due to prolonged drought and a lack of rainfall, spring water yields in the region have drastically decreased. At the same time, drinking water consumption has risen considerably, leading to a strained supply situation. Residents of Weggis, Vitznau, and Rigi Kaltbad are therefore being urged to use drinking water carefully as a precautionary measure. Since no significant rainfall is expected in the foreseeable future, immediate action is necessary. This includes refraining from unnecessary watering of gardens and lawns, and washing cars with buckets instead of hoses. It is recommended to shower instead of taking baths and to only run dishwashers and washing machines when fully loaded. Water should also be conserved when flushing toilets, and filling private garden pools should be avoided. These appeals aim to protect drinking water resources around the Rigi and prevent the need for stricter measures.
